Assault with Intent to Commit Rape on a Child Under 16
The crime of Assault with Intent to Commit Rape on a Child Under 16 is committed when one Assaults another, who is under the age of 16, with the intent to engage in sexual intercourse or unnatural sexual acts without their consent.
Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 265, Section 24B punishes offenders of the crime of Assault with Intent to Rape on a Child Under 16 with imprisonment for life or for any term of years. However, if the criminal offender committed the crime of Assault with Intent to Rape with the use of a firearm, then Massachusetts law imposes a minimum-mandatory sentence of not less than 10 years to be imposed; and for a second or subsequent offense, not less than 15 years.
As with all Rape Crimes, a conviction for the crime of Assault with Intent to Commit Rape would render the offender subject to Sex Offender Registration; submittal of his/her DNA to the state’s DNA database; could be subject to a term of community parole supervision for life; and may also serve as a predicate sexual offense for civil commitment as a “sexually dangerous person.”
