Commonwealth v. M.M., Dorchester Division of the Boston Municipal Court
The female defendant was charged with Assault & Battery with a Dangeous Weapon and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon for allegedly attacking two other females with a screwdriver after a verbal argument.
At trial, Attorney Travayiakis put forth a defense of Self-Defense, and attacked the credibility of the two purported victims called by the prosecution by highlighting several inconsistencies in their testimony. A thorough investigation of the two ‘victims’ bolstered the defense theory that the defendant acted in self-defense, and one of the female ‘victims’ was illustrated to the jury as an extremely aggressive person and the one that initiated the altercation.
After jury trial, the defendant, a college student who had no previous criminal history and had never been arrested for anything, was found NOT GUILTY of all charges.
